A mysterious blast has occurred near Istanbul's central Bayrampaşa metro station with the Istanbul governor stating that the cause of the explosion remains unknown.
Istanbul Governor Vasip Şahin said that one citizen was slightly injured in the unknown explosion.
Security sources said that the blast stemmed from an improvised cluster bomb.
The windows of a passing metro wagon were broken, after which passengers were evacuated.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, however, only announced that metro lines were cancelled due to a "sound resembling an explosion."
Reports of the blast went viral on social media, with users from various locations across the city reporting that they heard an explosion.
Ambulances have been dispatched to the scene.
