Tufan Hamarat- Cihan Kaya/ Muğla, Sep 1 (DHA) ' In Köyceğiz district of Muğla, the 2,400-year-old rock tombs under protection are threatened by tourists' visits that destruct the graves.


Tourists keep flocking to the rock graves despite the prohibitions and climb to the graves through the gravery of Çandır in the region, to take pictures.


However, along with the nature conditions, the tourists cause serious destruction over the artefacts, since they fuse the carved tombs. It was noticed that the tombs were not protected by fences, while the excursion spot installed for visitors have not been opened to service yet.


The tombs, part of Kaunos ancient site, are known as 'Tombs of Kings' in public. The tombs differ themselves with its special facade formed by Helenistic temple.
