Turkey's economic growth stood at 2.9 in 2014, lower than the government's target and slightly higher than market expectations, according to the data released by Turkstat on Tuesday. Turkish economy shrank by 2.8 percent in 2014 on dollar basis.
Turkish government cut its 2014 growth target to 3.3 percent in the middle term programme, from 3.0 percent previously, while the market's expectations were around 2.5 to 2.7 percent.
GDP increased by 2.9 percent in 2014 and reached to 126 billion 70 million liras at constant prices. The per capita gross domestic product rose to 22,753 liras at current prices in 2014, from 20,607 liras in the previous year.
GDP on dollar basis fell by 2.8 percent in 2014 to 800 billion 107 million dollars while income per capita fell 10,404 dollars from 10,822 dollars, over the same period. - Istanbul
