Skyrim Kızı Malukah ile Röportaj Yaptık!

Mahmut Saral - - Daha öncesi elbet vardı, ancak aslında her şey, Skyrim'in Dragonborn Comes isimli şarkısına Malukah'ın cover yapmasıyla başladı. Kısa sürede Internet'te, özellikle de oyun dünyasında fenomen olan bu cover, sadece oyuncuları değil, yapımcıları da etkiledi ve Malukah, Skyrim Kızı olarak oyun literatüründe yerini aldı. Kendisiyle güzel bir sohbet gerçekleştirdik. Bunun için kendisine teşekkür ederiz.

Öncelikle merhaba, nasılsın? Seni kısaca tanıyabilir miyiz?

Merhaba. İyiyim, teşekkür ederim. İsmim Malukah. Meksika'dan bir besteci ve şarkıcıyım. Oyunları çok seviyorum. Videolarımı yüklediğim bir de Youtube kanalım var.

Skyrim videonu ilk gördüğümde, Facebook sayfanda 600 kadar takipçin vardı sanırım. Arkadaşlarıma dönmüş ve bu kız yakın zamanda çok popüler olur demiştim. Dediğim çıktı ve şimdi 70 binden fazla takipçin var, tanınıyorsun. Nasıl bir duygu?

Rüya gibiydi. Benimle aynı tarz oyunları ve hikayeleri seven insanlarla tanışmak mükemmel bir duygu. Tüm destekleyenlerime minnettarım. Yıllardır müziğe olan uğraşımı insanlarla paylaşabilmiş olmak benim için büyük şans.

Dragonborn Comes performansını hazırlamaya nasıl karar verdin?

Dragonborn Comes performansını oyunda (Skyrim) bir ozanın sergilediğini duyduğum an büyülendim. Mükemmel bi şarkıydı. Gitar ve eko efektinin biR arada çıkardığı ses çok garipti. Bir bar yada tavernada yapılmış gibi değil de, tıpkı katedralde yapılmış gibiydi. Şarkıyı ben hazırladığımda kesinlikle böyle bir cevap alacağımı tahmin edemezdim.

Skyrim cover'ının ardından hayatında neler değişti?

En büyük değişim, sizlerin sayesinde müziğime karşı hislerimi idrak edebilmem. Müziğin bundan sonraki yapabileceğim en iyi şey ve ve hayatımın geri kalanında işim olarak yapabileceğim bir şey olması konusunda cesaretlendim, motivasyonum arttı. Peki müziğe nasıl başladın?

8 yaşında piyano çalarak müziğe başladım ve o zamandan beri hiç bırakmadım. Müziği gerçekten çok seviyorum, müzik içimi huzurla kaplıyor ve hayatımda yaptığım en iyi şeylerden birisi. Piyanodan sonra perküsyon ve gitar çalmayı öğrendim. Daha sonra da şarkı yazmaya başladım.

Bu çalışmanın ardından Bethesda nasıl yaklaştı sana?

Dragonborn cover'ını kendi sitelerinde ve Facebook sayfalarında yayınladılar. Bu çok kibarcaydı ve beni çok mutlu etti.

Oyun ve müzik ilginden devam edelim istersen...

Oyunlara mix edilmiş oyun müzikleri, hikayenin oyuncuya geçmesini daha net bi şekilde sağlıyor ve daha anlamlı hale getiriyor bana göre. Oyun müziklerini cover'lamak, anılarımı yaşatmak için en iyi yol ve müziğimin farklı yollardan bıraktığı etkiyi gösterdiği için de çok eğlenceli. Melodilerin nerden gelip, nereye giderek daha fazla takdir kazandığını öğrendiğimi hisssediyorum.

Bu aralar müzik üzerine ne gibi çalışmaların var? Konser gibi şeyler düşünüyor musun?

Bir mobil oyun müziği üzerine çalışıyorum. Aynı zamanda, gelecek albümüm için sözler yazıyorum. Birgün bütün cover'larımın olduğu bir konser yapmayı gerçekten çok istiyorum. An itibarıyla evde çalışıyorum ve geleceğe dair canlı performans, konser gibi bir planım yok.

Internet'te Skyrim'le alakalı farklı tarzlarda olmak üzere birçok çalışma var. Bunlar bir araya gelip FanMade bir soundtrack albümü olabilir miydi sence? Unutulmaz bir anı olabilir.

Şu aralar hangi oyunlarla vakit geçiriyorsun?

Assassin's Creed 2 oynuyorum şu sıralar. Uzun zaman önce seriye başlamıştım, fakat şimdi 2 ve 3'ü oynamak istiyorum. Ayrıca Halo 4 ve Dishonored senaryo modlarını da yeni bitirdim, ki bunlar da çok sevdiğim oyunlardır.

Teknoloji hakkında neler söyleyebilirsin? Şu ara iPhone 5 çok popüler mesela, etkiledi mi seni?

Teknolojiye bayılırım ve umarım bütün yeni çıkmış telefonlara ve teknolojik aletlere sahip olurum=) Şu an iPhone 4 sahibiyim, ancak Meksika'ya geldiğinde iPhone 5 alacağım. Mesela iPhone 4S almamıştım, çünkü çok hızlı değiştirip, piyasaya sürdüler ve benim için pahalıydı. Ürünümü yükseltmek istediğimde, daha büyük değişimler ve avantajların eklenmesini beklerim.

Son soru. Eğer bir oyun dünyasında yaşamak isteseydin, bu hangisi olurdu?

Elder Scrolls dünyasında yaşamak isterdim. Harika ve destansı olurdu bu.

Firstly hi. How are you? You have awesome voice. Would you introduce yourself please?

Hi! I'm doing well, thank you. My name is Malukah. I am a composer and singer from Mexico, and I love video games. I have a YouTube channel where I upload video game covers.

When i saw the Skyrim cover video, i worked in a game site as an editor. The number of fans of your Facebook page nearly 600. I told my friends "with this video,she will be very successful and she Will Appeal in a short time" in reality you have been a fenomen and i wanted to make an interwiev with you but i couldnt. Cause of the gamers high interests your site's email system was broken down. Now you have more than 70thousands of fans on your FB account. How is your feelings about it?

It feels like a dream! It has been amazing to meet many people that enjoy the same games and stories that I love. And I am so thankful for how supportive they have been. After many years of keeping music mostly to myself, it feel fortunate to have someone to share it with.

How did you decide to do this? And did you anticipate about the deep interest?

The moment I heard The Dragonborn Comes performed by a bard in the game, I was mesmerized by it. It's such a beautiful song. It was curious hear what it would sound like with guitar and a reverb effect, so that it would seem like it was performed in a cathedral instead of a small tavern. I never imagined that it would get a response like this!

What things changed in your life after the Skyrim cover? For example we (gamers) started to follow you on Internet more than before. We saw you in the office of Bioware, would you tell us the differences?

The biggest change is how you guys have made me feel about music. I feel very, very encouraged and motivated to keep working and doing my best so that music can be my job for the rest of my life. Before the covers, I did not think I could do this. Thanks to the support the videos have gotten, someone at Blizzard watched them and invited me to visit the offices whenever I was in California. Since I attended GDC in San Francisco, I made my way to Irvine after that and got to see where one of my favorite games is made!

As an aside you are a musician instrinsically. How and when did you define your interest and how did you start?

I started playing the piano when I was about 8 years old, and I have not stopped playing music since. I love it very much. Music makes me feel peaceful, and it's one of the best things about my life. After piano, I learned percussion and guitar and started writing songs.

How Bethesda approached you? As we seen everybody like so much your video and gamers admire very highly.

Bethesda shared the Dragonborn cover on their official site and Facebook page. This was so kind of them. And it made me so happy! I'm very thankful for that.

I even dont ask your interest about video games. We know, you are so good gamer, so my question about mixing music and video games which both of interests of you. How is your feeling about that?

Since I hear video game music in the context of the games while experiencing the story, these melodies become even more meaningful to me. They remind me of what I felt when I was playing the games. Making video game covers is a great way to relive these memories, and it's also fun to take an existing piece of music and see if it can be transformed into something a little bit different. In doing this, I feel I learn to appreciate melodies even more, by understanding where they come from and where they can go.

What are you doing about music nowadays? What are your projects? Do you think make a concert which includes all of your covers? How it could be?

I am working on music for a mobile game, as well as writing songs for my next album. I would love to some day perform a concert of all the covers! At this time, I am just working from home and have no plans to perform live or tour.

Lots of fan made song was made on internet for Skyrim. That songs have different styles like metal or classical. And most of that songs are realy good. Does it a neccessary idea to collect that songs in a CD. We talked about it and according to us it can be an amazing memory. What do you think about that?

I agree that it would be great to have one CD with all of the covers that people all over the world made of the Skyrim soundtrack! Like you say, an amazing memory for all of us fans of the game.

Which games you play now? Do you wait a new game to play?

I am about to start Assassin's Creed 2. i played the first game in the series a long time ago, but now I would like to play 2 and 3. I have also recently finished the Halo 4 and Dishonored campaigns, which I loved very much!

Except that music and video games what do you do? I know you have a dog, Thor: )

Thor is awesome. He always makes me laugh and feel happy. Besides music and games, I enjoy reading novels and writing for my blog. I also love spending time with friends and family.

How do you think about technology? iPhone5 is so popular currently. Does it affect you? What do you say about it?

I love new technology, and I wish I could have all the newest phones and gadgets! I currently still have an iPhone 4, so I look forward to upgrading to an iPhone 5 when it becomes available in Mexico. I try not to upgrade with each new generation (for example, I skipped the iPhone 4S), because they change and improve so quickly, and it's too expensive for me to keep up. I usually wait for the big changes that bring many new features to a product.

Last question If you have a chance to live in a game universe, which game universe do you choose and would you take your guitar and Thor?

I would want to live in the Elder Scrolls universe! Beautiful and epic. It would be an unforgettable life!
