The 43rd Istanbul Music Festival's Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to the Borodin Quartet at a ceremony held at the Hagia Irene Museum.
The quartet received the award from Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) President Görgün Taner and Istanbul Music Festival Director Yeşim Gürer Oymak.
The world's oldest string quartet in existence, the Borodin Quartet, celebrated its 70th anniversary this year with a major world tour that brought the quartet back to the festival after a five-year hiatus with the magnetically compelling Boris Berezovsky.
Regular guest
Berezovsky is a regular guest with prominent orchestras worldwide, and his formidable discography is decorated with many international awards, including the Echo Klassik, Choc de la Musique, Diapason d'Or, and the BBC Music Magazine award. In his festival debut, Berezovsky performed the Dvorak piano quintets with the Borodin Quartet after the award ceremony.
