Trade union marchs in bordering town against war

Behçet Dalmaz/ Hakkari, Aug 12 (DHA) - Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions (KESK) branch in southeastern province of Hakkari has held a protest against war, amid violence outbreak in Turkey.

Within the 'No to war' demonstration held in front of KESK Hakkari Branches Platform, protesters have chanted slogans against Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and the Justice and Development Party (AKP).

Hakkari Co-mayor Dilek Hatioğlu, seniors of Peoples? Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) have given support to the protest.

KESK Hakkari Branch temporary spokesperson Süleyman Aşkan made a press statement, urging that 'the AKP has not done anything but delaying tactics, regarding the democratization and demands for living humanly, in their 13-year-long term of power?.

'The AKP's policies supporting the ISIL pushed this country to face war, pressure, detainments, and depredation of nature. The government has been dragging the country into a chaos, while promoting the violence in the Middle East, and making its partisans rich through an economy based on theft, corruption and raids' said Aşkan.

Aşkan added that the 'AKP government has supported the barbarian army of ISIL, security bill and unsolved murders in Turkey, rather than assuring a fair and equal jurisdiction.'

The statement called on officials to pursue the peace process and authorities to give up on policies expanding the war in Middle East, having claimed to lift the isolation on jailed PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan to revive the negotiation talks.
