Body Of Russian Pilot To Be Handed Over To Russia, Says Turkish Pm

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has stated the body of the Russian pilot was brought to Turkey to be handed over to Russia, in a press briefing held at Ankara's airport prior to his departure for the EU-Turkey Summit.

The body of the pilot, who was downed by Turkish F-16s on Nov. 24, would be prepared in accordance with Orthodox tradition before being handed over to Russia, Davutoğlu said.

Two Turkish F-16s shot down a Russian jet fighter on Nov. 24 at around 9: 20 a.m. near the southern province of Hatay's Yayladağı district after the plane violated the border between Turkey and Syria, despite being warned multiple times.
