Crop Production To Rise By 8.6 Pct. Over İncrease İn Cereals

– Crop production in Turkey is expected to rise by 8.6 percent this year, with relation to the increase in cereals by 18.1 percent, over rain falls of this year following a dry year in 2014.

According to second data of the year released by Turkstat, overall production of cereal, herbal products, and vegetables and fruits will rise by 8.6 pct. to 114.1 million tones.

Turkstat data shows, the production of cereals and other crops, fruits, vegetables in the second estimation of 2015 will rise with rates of 12.6 percent to 67 million tones, by 3.5 percent to 17.7 million tones, and by 3.1 percent to 29.5 million tones, when compared with the previous year.

Cereals production, on the other hand, will rise by a rate of 18.1 percent to around 38.6 million tons, against the previous year.

Wheat production will increase by 18.9 percent to become 22.6 million tons, barley production will increase by 27 percent and become 8 million tons, rice in the husk production will increase by 10.8 percent and become 920 thousand tons, maize production will increase by 7.6 percent and become 6.4 million tons, when compared with the previous year, Turkstat data forecasted.

Last year, cereal production has declined by 12.7 percent to 32.7 million tons, stemming from the most severe drought of recent years. Overall vegetable production, accordingly, has seen around 105 million tons, in the same period.
