In northern Turkish province of Zonguldak, seventy six-year-old Sezaver Alcan collects scraps and fuel wood for winter in a pannier carried on her back, wandering in the neighbourhood, construction areas and roadsides. While Alcan brings the fuel wood in her house, she sells scraps to earn her family's bread.
Grandma Alcan told that she and her three children living in the same house cannot manage to live on the retirement salary of her late husband who died of cancer seven years ago.
"I collect some of the fuel wood in the marketplace and sell the scraps. I do enjoy working. I earn 900 liras as retirement salary but this does not cover the family, since my children living with me don't have any jobs."
"I will work as long as I can" said Alcan the powerful grandma of Zonguldak.
