Syriza Youth On Suruç Massacre: We Will Carry The Torch From Where They Left

– The youth branch of the ruling radical Syriza Party in Greece has made a statement condemning the Suruç Massacre, declaring, "Our 32 comrades were killed… We will carry on what they have initiated. This is the only armament we have in the fight against atrocity".

Some 32 young members of the Federation of Socialist Youth Associations (SGDF) who had gathered in a culture center of Suruç, Şanlıurfa province to help rebuild Kobane, had been killed and over 100 had been left wounded, after a suspected ISIL attack bomb attack on July 20.

Syriza Youth's statement pointed out that those people who had visited the region to support the Rojova Resistance were attacked once more by the ISIL, having declared, "This time the attack targeted the Federation of Socialist Youth Associations (SGDF), a branch of the Peoples' Democratic Party. Those young people have gathered in Suruç to help rebuilding Kobane town".

"The attack, which was one of the most barbarous attacks in Turkey in recent yeatrs, has targeted young people fighting for freedom, peace and justice. We have also visited Suruç to show our support to the people fighting for their freedom and for supplying aid. As the Syriza Youth, we would like to condole with the families and relatives of those people who have unjustly lost their lives" added Syriza's youth branch in their statement.
