12,000 police deployed for 13,000 guests ahead of G-20 Summit

Tolga Yıldırım/ Antalya, Nov 5 (DHA) - The security measures in Antalya, Turkey's southern province set to host the G-20 Leaders Summit on Nov. 15-16, has reached an extreme level, as around 12,000 police were announced to be deployed for the event, expected to host around 13,000 guests.

Some 1,400 police officers among those will be assigned for securing the local traffic, during the international events.

Meanwhile, the Belek-Kadriye region, which will host the summit, was declared 'red zone' and the access to the zone though land, air or sea, was guaranteed 'protester-free?.

30,000 international protesters expected

Around 30,000 protesters from different corners of the world are expected to participate to the events, according to security officials.

Vice Provincial Police Chief Mehmet Cem Gencer added, the traffic flaw towards the city center, from all directions, was set to be closed to large road vehicles, to prevent the ease the traffic density and assure security, between Nov. 9-19.

Regarding the security mechanism to be developed in hotels, Gencer said more than 30 hotels have been closed, in order to position security officers in these facilities.

Inhabitants residing in the 'red zone' will be able to leave and enter the zone, under the security officers? control.

World leaders are expected to arrive to Antalya, from Nov. 13, however the exact dates were not finalized yet, for security reasons.
