Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş has enrolled the presidencies of unions of chamber of merchants and craftsmen, at the National Assembly meeting of his party, on July 31.
"The provisional government can declare war but cannot declare peace? Our priority is not to count the votes, lives are being lost, lives! We should stop this. Even in the case of a decision for an early election, we should immediately demonstrate a political will to dissuade the sides" has said Demirtaş.
HDP co-chair has also referred to the endeavour of NGOs, merchants, craftsmen and businessmen, urging them to speak up for peace, and added "As merchants and employers, you are among the most harmed fraction in the society; your sensitivity is crucial to assure stability in the country"
Demirtaş has stated that he does not approve the attacks of Kurdistan Workers' Party burning construction equipments and raiding construction sites, having said "Those burned vehicles, equipments are ours too".
According to Demirtaş's statement, the impunity debates only make the fur fly in the country. "We have the strength to fight injustice with our 6 million citizens who have voted us, we do not need anything else."
Demirtaş also addressed the investigation of Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the October 6-8, 2014 Kobane events, which was recently brought to the agenda. Demirtaş has been accused of "instigating and arming a group of people against others and causing hostality among poeple."
"The investigation was launched last year, it is not new. The prosecutor has been carrying out the ongoing investigation in the last 11 months, but cannot find anything to accuse me for. They just want to bring the issue back to the agenda" commented Demirtaş.
