Obama Congratulates Turkish People Over Election

United States President Barack Obama held phone conversations with Turkey's President Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to congratulate the Turkish people on the November 1 elections and to preview the upcoming G-20 Summit in Antalya, announced U.S. Embassy to Turkey.

"The leaders discussed the situation in Syria and the importance of expanding joint efforts to strengthen the moderate Syrian opposition and step up pressure against ISIL. They also discussed ways to create conditions for a negotiated solution to the conflict, including a political transition in Syria" said the statement of the U.S. Embassy.

The President stressed the need for an end to PKK terrorist attacks in Turkey, the statement added. - Ankara
