In Seven Years 2,300 Artefact Unearthed İn Laodiceia

– Excavation works at ancient site Laodiceia, in western province of Denizli carried out by Pamukkale University and the Metropolitan Municipality has unearthed 2,300 artefacts in seven years.

In 2008, the excavation works have been maintained without any source pressure, after the protocol assigning the direction of excavations to the Municipality.

After 12 months of non-stop works of excavation and restoration, the ancient site has been honoured to join the temporary list of Unesco World Heritage, two years ago.

In the last seven years, excavation works have brought to light and erected the Laodiceia Church, monumental columns of North Sacred Agora and Central Agora and the half of the Stadium Street along with others.

The Laodiceia site's excavation works are also known as the largest systematic excavation organisation in Turkey that have hosted thousands of tourists in the last seven years and has been inspired hundreds of scientific articles along with six scientific books.
