The image of a worker carried in the trunk of an official car belonging to the municipality in the Black Sea province of Bartın has prompted social media outrage in Turkey. A driver in traffic captured the photo as the official plated car stopped at the red lights, showing the worker was in the trunk. The driver later shared the image online, captioning it "This is Bartın, Turkey." The Bartın Municipality has said it has opened an investigation into the driver of the official car. Bartın Deputy Major Hüseyin Taner Çetin stated that the car was carrying iron and the worker boarded the trunk in order to hold down the rear cover, which did not close due to the load carried inside.
