– Around 200 migrants seeking to cross into Europe through Turkey's western border gate in Edirne has been dispersed as their camping area in İlhan Koman Park at city center has been cleared off by police teams.

While hundreds of Syrians have been marching towards Edirne and camping by bus terminals and road sides following refusal of gendarmerie and police, the attempts have been blocked for several times, leading to protests among Syrians.

A group of migrants mostly childen have announced a hunger strike, "until the doors to Greece were opened". Some of the banners read "Thank you Merkel Mother", while children have been marching at the front.

Waterspout in the camping area

Meanwhile, following the protests clouds have burst over the camping area, raising new miseries in the camping area.

While migrants attempted to cover themselves under blankets and nylon covers under the rain, the security forces arrived at the scene and told migrants they could go to Istanbul or if they wanted to stay, they would have to be transported to Sarayiçi district in the province, where another group of migrants have been "sheltering".

Police convinced some of the families to get on the buses heading back to Istanbul, however some families refused to leave Edirne and told they wanted to reach the border gate. Police teams forced these migrants to board on the shuttles.

A Syrian woman had a mental breakdown; was hospitalized to Selimiye State Hospital.

After two hours of attempts to convince the group, police teams managed to bring most of the migrants to Sarayiçi wrestling arena that has turned into a refugee camp in the last week.

700 migrants return to Istanbul in 24 hours

Police teams do not allow migrants to leave the area and go to city center to procure their needs.

Edirne Governor Ali Şahin had convinced around 700 Syrian migrants to return to Istanbul in around 24 hours, transported by 15 shuttles. In Sarayiçi, Directororate Generale of Migration has installed desks to register the ID and passport information of migrants.

Recently, a group of 100 migrants hit the streets once again to cross into Greek border gate through historical Kanuni bridge, however had to return after they have come face to face with the riot police. Police has not intervened the group despite disputes.
