In Antalya, a reputable underwater tourism attraction point in southwest Anatolia, an innovation will possibly appeal many other
scuba divers.
Giant sculptures were installed under the Mediterranean Sea for an underwater museum in the Side region, with the cooperation of the Turkish Chamber of Shipping (DTO) Antalya Branch Office and the West Mediterranean Development Agency (BAKA).
Under several historical and cultural themes ranging from "Turkish War of Independence" to "Whirling Dervish", "Camel Train" to "Flower Garden", 110 sculptures will be presented under the Mediterranean waters.
The sculptures were completed in three months and were lowered into place in three different depth zones where all amateur and professional or semi-professional scuba divers could reach.
One mile offshore of the Side Harbour, the owner of Silver Diving Center Ahmet Gülaydın and his team, as well as professional divers from Vardakosta Marine Construction Company installed the sculptures.
DTO Antalya Branch Chairman İnanç Kendiroğlu said that the Side underwater museum would be a unique attraction in the region, and announced a similar project in the Kemer, another tourism attraction of Antalya.
