18 Haz 18.06.2023 Karapınar, which is known for desertification, creates an 'oasis' The garden of 74-year-old Osman Büyüksırıtoğlu, who started afforestation and environmental regulation 33 years ago in Karapınar district of Konya, which is one of the least rainy places in Turkey and is known for erosion, is attracting attention with its oasis-like appearance. Büyüksırıtoğlu, who has more than 2,000 trees, an artificial pond, and 40 different animal species in his garden, also contributed to the fight against erosion by afforesting a 10-kilometer area along the roadside. Nature enthusiast Osman Büyüksırıtoğlu, who lives in Karapınar, which is associated with erosion and desertification, has created an oasis-like garden next to the quarry he started operating 33 years ago.
