Motor Vehicles Registered İn Turkey Rose To 19 Million Level

Number of motor vehicles registered in Turkey rose to 19 million level at the end of Noveber, about 4.6 percent higher than at the end of previous year, according to Road Motor Vehicles data, released by Turkish Statistical Institute, on Friday.

Total number of road motor vehicles registered rose by 829 thousand units to 18.77 million in the January-November period, with 947 thousand added and 118 thousand were withdrawn.

Within the total, cars were at 52.3 percent, followed by small trucks with 16.3 percent, motorcyles with 15.1 percent, tractors with 8.6 percent, trucks with 4.1 percent, minibuses with 2.3 percent and buses with 1.1 percent.

Of these 93 thousand 842 vehicle registrations in November, cars accounted for 59.5 percent, followed by small trucks with 16.2 percent, motorcycles with 10.9 percent and tractors 7.5 percent.

In November, the number of road motor vehicle registrations increased by 6 percent compared with October. Cars, minibuses, small trucks, trucks and tractors increased by 8.6 percent, 0.8 percent, 24.1 percent, 0.9 percent and 15.7 percent respectively.

In November, the number of road motor vehicle registrations decreased by 1.3 percent compared with the same month of the previous year. Cars, buses, motorcycles decreased by 7.7 percent, 43 percent, 10.3 percent. Minibuses, small trucks, trucks, special purpose vehicles and tractors increased by 11.8 percent, 31.9 percent, 0.5 percent, 67.7 percent and 18.9 percent respectively.

Among 496 thousand 198 vehicles handed over, cars accounted for 68.2 percent followed by small trucks 16.4 percent, tractors 5.3 percent and motorcycles 3.9 percent. Minibuses, buses, trucks and special purpose vehicles constituted 6.2 percent of the handed over motor vehicles in November.

At the end of November, among 9.8 million registered cars, the share of LPG-fuelled cars is 41.3 percent followed by gasoline-fuelled cars with 29.2 percent and diesel-fuelled cars with 29 percent.

In terms of the distribution of trademarks for the 56 thousand new registered cars in November, Volkswagen recorded 15.2 percent, Renault 14.2 percent, Hyundai 7.9 percent, Opel 6.6 percent, Toyota 6.5 percent, Fiat 5.6 percent, Dacia 5.2 percent, BMW 5.1 percent, Ford 4.6 percent, Audi 3.8 percent of the total.

Within 527 thousand cars registered to traffic in January-November period, 40.7 percent of them have engine size 1501-1600, 20.9 percent have 1401-1500, 18.2 percent have 1300 or less, 13.9 percent have 1301-1400, 4.5 percent have 1601-2000, 1.6 percent have 2001 and above engine size.

Within 527 thousand cars registered to traffic in January-November period, 63 percent of them are white, 16.7 percent are grey, 9.3 percent are black, 4.8 percent are red and 6.2 percent are in other colours. - İstanbul
